Creating robotic, light and simple template in photoshop

Hello everyone. A little time has passed since the last tutorial. Sorry for that, but I have a lot of work now so You have to forgive me. Today I’m going to show You how to create a light and simple template. It’s really easy and fast to do so stay with me, and step by step, create a final product.

What will be needed in this tutorial?

Step 1

First of all download grid 960 and put the action file into photoshop. Then play the action for 12 column grid. If You have problem with this step just look at my previous tutorials. There I explain how to do this step by step. Really don’t want to repeat myself and waste more time to this. But I hope there won’t be any problems with it.

Step 2

Go to edit->canvas size and change height for about 1200px just to make more working space for us.

Step 3

In this template background is white so lets start the header section now. Our header section has logo, main navigation and some social icons. Now go to view-> new guide and add a horizontal guide in 150px.

Now use rectangle tool and draw the background of our navigation. Go to blending options and change gradient and add some drop shadow

Step 4

Now add a robot icon and some text. In my example font for Marvin is Star Jedi Logo Monoline 48px, for automator Neuropol 24px. Now add some blending options for both of them

photo 4

And now our logo is done.

photo 5

Step 5

In our navigation just add some text. I used Century Gothic 18px with color of #ebebec.

photo 6

Step 6

Now add some social icons. Mine are about 34x34px. After You add them go to Image->Adjustments->Hue/Saturation and check “colorize”. Then set the hue for 200 and saturation for 25. Now we have our social icons done.

Step 7

Our header section is done. Now we have to create our slider section. Add new guide horizontally in 200px and another one on 500px. On the left add another robot icon, on the right add a heading (I used Century gothic 36px with color of #5b6671) and some random text.

photo 8

Now add read more button. Get rounded rectangle tool with radius of 3px and Draw a shape of button. Go to blending options and add some gradient

photo 9

Add text read more or something You want.

photo 10

Step 8

Now get the ellipse tool and with Shift pressed draw a perfect circle. For the background color set #ebebec. Then get custom shape tool and choose a little arrow. Make the color #ffffff and draw a little arrow in the circle. You should have now one of the arrows.

photo 11

Now You can select the layers and choose merge layers or You can put them in one new group. Now go to Layer->duplicate layer or duplicate group. Now go to edit->transform->flip horizontally and place it on the other side.

Now Our slider section is ready.

Step 9

Lets add some content now. Add new guide on 550px. Make four boxes, 3 columns are one box. Now add some headings. I used Century gothic 18px with color of # 5b6671. To do the circle icons next to text just use ellipse tool and in blending options add some gradient

photo 13

Now from custom shape tool choose some icons. You can copy read more button from slider area.

After that You should have something like this

photo 14

Step 10

The last area to do is footer. Add new guide at 850px and draw a shape with rectangle tool. Go to blending options and add some gradient for the background of the footer.

photo 15

On the left side of the footer there are two columns with links. On the right there is a little robot with sign and copyright. Both sides, left and right, contains six columns.

So on the left add some headings and list. For the bullets I used the same arrow that I used in slider arrows.

photo 16

On the right add another robot icon and with rounded rectangle tool draw a shape. For the arrow You can use polygonal lasso tool and after You draw a shape You want just go to edit->fill. Add some text to the blob and after all You should have something similar.

photo 17

Now get ellipse tool with black color, draw a shape similar to this

photo 18

Now add some blur, position the shadow nicely and change the opacity for about 50%.

The last thing to do is to add some copyright and that’s it.

Finished

So now You have it. Really simple, light, easy and fast to do template.

Hope You enjoyed this tutorial. Maybe there is something You can learn from it or maybe after You read it You get some nice ideas.
