Creating nice, blue template in photoshop – FREE PSD

Hello guys and girls. Today I’m going to show You how to create a nice, blue, water related template in photoshop. I’m also using a 960 grid for this.

What will be needed in this tutorial?

Step 1

In this step simply download a 960 grid and import the action file into photoshop. Then just play the 12 column grid action and new file will be created. Now go to edit -> canvas size and change the size of the template for about 1600x1500px for more workspace. The width isn’t necessary, but You can always use it to see how the template will look in bigger resolutions.

Step 2

For the background I used a photo called Clear Water. Just drag it into photoshop and scale as You want to.

Step 3

Now go to view -> new guide and add a horizontal guides on the 80px, 110px and 170px.

Step 4

The first guide is for our logo. Get the text tool and add some text. Font I used is Forte 72px. Now go to blending options and set

photo 2

Now You should have something similar to this

Step 5

When our logo is done we should take care of navigation. Set foreground color to white and take the rounded rectangle tool. Set radius for 15px and drag the shape in the place we set earlier with guides. Then change the opacity for the layer to 70%.

Step 6

Add some text in navigation. I used Myriad Pro Condensed 24px with color of #0263a4.

Step 7

For the hover state change the text color to white and add some bg for button. Get rounded rectangle tool with 15px radius and draw a shape. Go to blending options and set

You now should have something like this

Step 8

Now lets do our search. Once again take rounded rectangle tool with 15px of radius and draw a shape. Go to blending options and set

photo 7

Change the fill to 0%

photo 8

Now go to custom shape tool and get the search icon. Set the color for #0263a4 and draw a small shape on the right of the search bar. After that Your navigation bar should look similar to this.

Our header section is ready now.

Step 9

Add some new hoizontal guides on 200px, 465px and 500px. Now lets draw first background for our caption. Set foreground color to white. Get rounded rectangle tool with 15px radius and draw a shape starting from the second grid column and from the bottom guide (500px) just leaving some space on the top. Change the opacity to 70%.

photo 10

Step 10

Now draw a shape on the top left corner of the slider. This time leave some space on the bottom. The shape has about 560px of width. Go to the blending options and set the same options as in the hovered background of the navigation button.

photo 11

Now we have something like this

Step 11

Now on the left side add a photo. Mine has 500x221px, but it’s just based on how big Your slider will be. Now go to the blending options of the photo You just pasted

photo 13

Now our slider photo should look like this

photo 14

Step 12

Add some random content on the right side of the slider

photo 15

Now add read more button. Get your rounded rectangle tool with radius of 20px and draw a smal shape under the text. Copy the layer styles from hover button or blue background from slider.

Add some text and You should have something like this

Step 13

Now take rectangle tool and draw a shape for our slider pagination. Copy the layer style from read more button

photo 18

Now get the elipse tool and draw a circle. You can draw a perfect circle when you holding Your shift key. Copy it couple of times and set the color od them to #e8e8e8 and add a little bit of inner shadow

For hover state simply change the circle color to #006ca4

Hello. From what I noticed more people wait for designing tutorials, but I will think about it. Maybe I can make it this weekend, but I don’t promise anything :)

It would be really nice if you would do another part & convert it to html with CSS.
